Q: I want to keep the cost down, but still have good performance. What Motor/Battery/Radio setup should I get?
A: Motor: GWS 350C "D" ratio (6.6:1) (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($18)
Battery: Any 1000-2100 mAh 3S1P Li Poly pack. (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($38)
Speed Control: Castle Creations Pixie 20 (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($40)
Radio System: Any 4 Ch. FM transmitter, and a micro receiver. (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($39) GWS or Hitec are recommended. Servos should be sub micro. Hitec HS-55, Cirrus CS-10, Bluebird BMS370, etc...4 needed (www.newcreations-rc.com)($18)
Charger: Must be approved and designed to charge Li Poly packs. The Apache 2500 charger is great, and can charge up to 4 cell packs . (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($60)
Prop: APC 11x4.7 ($2.50)
Stuff: Get a few feet of red/black high quality silicone wrapped hook up wire, 2 sets of Deans micro plugs, and some high quality clear medical tape or packing tape. ($10)
That pretty much does it for the economy package. However, it still provides power to hover at 1/2 throttle, pull out of nasty situations, and provides 15-35 minutes of flight time! The above setup will provide approximately 24 oz of thrust to a plane that weights 11-14 oz! That is fun! Just plan on having a couple replacement 370 motors around, because at 11.1 volts, the brushes wear out quickly (10-15 flights) However, they are under $5 for a whole new motor! You can also replace the stock 370 motor with the Team Orion "Baja" Mini T modified motor (Mini R/C Truck motor) It is awesome! ($40)
Q: I want a brushless setup for better performance. What Motor/Battery/Radio setup should I get?
A: Motor: Himax HA2015-4100 bolted to the himax (6.6:1) reduction unit. ( Or Cobri aluminum gearbox -AWESOME!)(www.newcreations-rc.com)
Battery: Any 1000-2100 mAh 3S1P Li Poly pack. (www.falconbatteries.com)
Speed Control: Castle Creations Phoenix 25 brushless controller.
Radio System: Any 4 Ch. FM transmitter, and a micro receiver. (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($39) GWS or Hitec are recommended. Servos should be sub micro. Hitec HS-55, Cirrus CS-10, Bluebird BMS370, etc...4 needed (www.newcreations-rc.com) ($16)

The benefit of going brushless is 2 fold. Better performance and better run time. Your motor will last for years, and you are more efficient, producing more power. This setup is my favorite because it requires no gearbox, is quieter, and produces TONS of power!
Q: I Have money in my pocket and want the best! What Motor/Battery/Radio setup should I get?
A: Motor: Hacker B20-18L brushless motor and a 4:1 planetary gear reduction unit. (www.newcreations-rc.com)
Battery: 2200 mAh 3S1P Li Poly pack. (www.falconbatteries.com)

This setup is the Purple Power setup. Providing almost 40oz of thrust! It should be used only by those familiar with high performance aircraft! This will emulate a 40% gasser, and then some! However, it is almost double the price of the Himax setup, but the grin you get is worth it!
Q: What glue should I use to build my plane?
A: Defiantly med ODORLESS CA. It will not attack the foam, but takes days to dry, so you just need to use accelerator with it. The down side is that it is double the price of normal CA. As an alternative to CA, Elmer's white glue can be used, it just needs to let dry over night. 5 or 15 minute Epoxy is also used in the main wing/motor areas. Gorilla Glue (Polyurethane) is also a great choice. It is super strong, but takes some getting used to. We sell the best Odorless CA we have found, you can find it on the catalog pages.
Q: Where can I get the foam to make my own plane from scratch?
A: Depron is available from www.DepronUSA.com or www.DepronAlaska.com it is expensive though, and costs a lot to ship because of the oversize charges. As an alternative we offer Depron sheets that are smaller in size and can be shipped with standard priority mail. The next choice is Blucore of Fan Fold Foam. It is available at many Lowe's and Home Depot stores. If you do not see it on the floor, ask the CONTRACTOR DESK to order you a stack of it. It costs $25-$40 for a stack of 25 sheets. It is not as nice as Depron, is slightly lighter, but is also more rigid and less prone to cracking on impacts. If you are just building 3 or 4 planes, it is much cheaper to order a laser cut kit and not have to pay all the shipping.
Q: How much is international shipping? Where can you ship to?
A: We ship to all countries that participate with the United States Postal Service. All shipments are sent with Airmail or International Priority Mail. The Shipping cart will calculate your exact shipping charges for you.
Q: Why do I have to put in my e-mail address and name to download the free plans?
A: I wanted all my plans to be free to download for the scratch builders out there like my self, however there are people that abuse the generosity of others. The download system works great, and all your information is kept just to me. It is simply a way to regulate who gets to have the free plans. The second reason is because of costs and time... the shopping cart download system treats your download like an order and instantly sends your plans to your e-mail address. You get it faster, and my website does not crash from the high volume! (Over 25000 plans have been sent out since the beginning of 2004!!!)
Q: What is the difference between FFF (Blucore) and Depron?
A: FFF and Depron are the same TYPE of foam, but the quality is the difference. FFF has a thin plastic skin on both sides that makes it more resilient to impacts. However this skin has imperfections like hairline wrinkles and a small perforation every square inch. In the air they fly identical. Depron is imported from Europe, it is expensive but the highest quality foam available. It is perfectly smooth, glossy white and slightly stiffer than FFF. They are both easily paintable and weigh almost the same. The Turbo Raven on the Home page of the website is painted FFF!
Go with FFF if you just want to fly it, and don't care too much about the looks. Go with Depron if you plan on making it look really nice and scale.
Q: What is the advantage of the 3D Foamy PRO kits with G-Force Wings?
A: Your Aircraft was designed
by computer (CAD) for accuracy and construction ease. All parts have been
precision cut on a CNC laser cutting system right here in the 3D Foamy shop! Not
only
are these planes simple, but they adhere 100% to the full scale aircraft’s
outlines. Control surfaces were the only deviation. This makes your plane fly
like the big planes do! It also makes it
one of the best looking foamy’s out
there, and a great trainer for aerobatics. Our goal was to provide a REALISTIC
flying airplane that you can practice your IMAC and 3D maneuvers with. You will
be very impressed with the way it flies!
All
foamy's are NOT created equal.....
3D Foamy kits are the first to
offer this radical new wing design! The “G-Force” wing is the heart of
the PRO version. It is a 6mm Depron core, all control surfaces are cut and even
the spar cutout is laser cut FOR YOU! The beautiful LE is all lightened up with
the lightning holes.... To top it
off,
servo bays and even the control horn slots are all cut, ready for the cool 3D
Foamy 3D control horns. (included) The beauty of the deal is the top and bottom
LE wing skins. It allows for slower airspeeds on the down lines, totally
eliminates high speed "hunting" (not much to start with though) and improves the
tracking to the point that you WILL NOT think you are flying a "Flat" wing...
The top wing cap covers the servo and
lightening cutouts... The bottom wing
cap makes it all symmetrical... By sanding the LE round, it creates a good
separation point for good clean snaps. The caps carry back to MAC, then
transition back into the 6mm wing section. This creates a small vortex down the
rest of the wing, allowing better aileron control, less wing rock, and a little
more "lift" for slower landings. This also helps out with the glide ratio.... It
looks awesome too.... the aileron servos and wires are completely hidden in the
wing. No more servo leads dangling in the wind! Direct Drive rudder and elevator
linkage is part of the PRO kits.... The servos are located as close as possible
to the flight surface. It uses a
short carbon pushrod for control...
The plane flies like a 40%er,
and so now the controls are setup the same too!
Q: What is the best paint to use?
A: The ONLY paint that I recommend is Testors Spray Enamel. It's the stuff you get for painting plastic models. It is 100% foam safe and comes in many colors. Other paints work, but require VERY thin dusting coats! if it build up, it will attack the foam...
Another alternative is using trim sheets, sign vinyl, colored packing tapes, and low temp covering.
